Keep up with what's going on at GSG Radio right here on this Blogger. It will be updated as often as possible. I will post Station happenings, or other things that may be of interest. Randy
Hello,
Ok, it is slowly becoming fall, and you know what that means! We can probably look for a crunch of new releases to hit from your favorite artists so they can chart before the holidays.
Buddy Mullins, formally of the Gaither Vocal Band, his wife, and another guy are starting up a new group. I don’t know the name of the group, but I’m curious why I received a Press Release about it. Their first date is set somewhere for New Years Eve. I have been told that Buddy has been singing contemporary as of late.
There has been a lot of blogging about blogging lately. Check out the message board at sogospelnews.com and you will see what I mean. I won’t try to paraphrase any of it here, but it is good reading, and a little drama to boot.
There are a whole slew of Southern Gospel Artists coming to sing in my area real soon. Except for some ads on a local Gospel Station, and a few signs posted here and there, you wouldn’t know it. Why can’t our artists get, at least in this area, get some big Newspaper ads like the secular groups do?
I am now working at a local motel as a desk clerk. One of my many duties is to air movies, mostly newer releases, on our in-house movie channel. Sunday morning I got the idea to air some Gospel Music instead, since the DVD player would also play CD’s. The phone rang just after the first verse of the first song. The call came from a room occupied by two known lesbians. It seems they didn’t like me playing what they called, “God Music”. There were others who really liked it.
How many of you think that Johnny Minnick named his newest release wrong? It is called Vestal’s Song and it is dynamite. It is a tribute song and a great one at that. However, this song will be sang at Godly Women’s funerals for now on, however it might be sang more often if it didn’t have a persons name attached to it. I.E. Would I want a song titled Vestal’s Song sang at my Aunt Edna’s funeral? Her name isn’t Vestal. I don’t know. It might have been better if it had a more generic name.
Ok, I’m gonna stick my neck out and predict a couple of songs that could go to #1 on your favorite major SG Chart. (Drum-roll Pulease) “I Don’t Wanna Go Back-Kingdom Heirs” and “He Saw It All-Booth Brothers”. And here is my pick of the “Best Song You’ve Probably Not Heard On Your Local Station” and it is “Ain’t No Doubt About It-Dewayne Holt”.
Here is more about “He Saw It All-Booth Brothers”. A word craftsman worded this song. Listen very carefully to this song and you will see what I mean. A blind man saw it all, a deaf person heard it all, and a cripple was being chased. It is a hallelujah type of song.
Here is more about “I Don’t Want To Go Back-Kingdom Heirs”. It’s Southern Gospel, Quartet Style, Gospel Singing without leaning one way or another. Pure and simple Gospel Music Southern Style. You’ll Love It!
Here is more about “Ain’t No Doubt About It-Dewayne Holt”. The Family Music Group has got a good’n here. Dewayne Holt has a tinge of a Country Sound but delivers a song with an above average message in an above average style. The song could be the testimony of Christians everywhere.
Did Gold City really fire their band? And Why?
