Wow folks, what is going on with the women in America. Keep in mind that Women make up most of the Churches in our communities, and lately it seems, they are making up most of the news as well. By now most of us have heard about the former female Astronaut that drove 900 miles wearing a diaper and toting pepper spray, a steel mallet, rubber tubing and a BB gun to confront her romantic rival. You may or may not have heard that the first female Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi threw a big bash to celebrate her position, and is now feuding with the Pentagon because they will not supply her with an airplane big enough to fly non-stop to California. She says it’s because she was critical of Rumsfeld. The former Speaker of the House was given the use of a smaller corporate sized jet. He was a male republican. On our local news a woman, described by neighbors as a “friendly, grandmotherly type,” and nice to kids, hold up inside her house and using a rifle with a laser pointer, began firing randomly out her windows. A neighbor and a law officer were shot, fortunately neither wound were life threatening. Several houses around her were also hit. I witnessed a 21 year old mother of 2 grab a man by the throat and draw back as though she were going to punch his lights out. Our neighborhood manager on duty stepped between the two and broke it up. It all started because the guy told her some unpleasant things about her current boyfriend. America’s sweetheart, Paula Abdul, is being sued for signing a TV deal with the Bravo Network using an idea that she stole from someone else. Pop Tarts Brittany Spears and Lisa Lohan have been in the news almost constantly for partying around Hollywood without the benefit of underwear. I don’t know about ya’ll folks, but it really bothers me when the “kinder and gentler” gender begin showing traits of being neither.

While researching a song for Brother Mitchell of Maine I stumbled over something very entertaining and interesting. It is a website that a guy called John also does music reviews. As I read his music reviews I realized that our taste in music is quite alike, our writing is quite alike, and even our phrasing is often alike. No I’m not accusing him of plagiarism; I’m just saying he has good taste and writing skills. And we both write short and to the point reviews. RANDY REVIEWS RECENT RADIO RELEASES

“He’ll Take Me Through-McGruders” They’ve been around forever and they are still turning out some fine songs with Biblical messages.

“Bye Bye-Tim Thomas Trio” It’s almost like they borrowed lyrics from a number of songs to record this up-tempo number. It still worked though, as it’s a good one.

“Great Big God-Gardners” This song features some excellent singing and an equally excellent arrangement.

“Hit The Ground Running-Ivan Parker” Hold on now, I’m about to write something I don’t usually do, something good about Ivan Parker. This is his best release in years. It’s one I would actually go out and buy. The song is (gasp) zesty.

“God Can Save Anybody Anywhere Anytime-Kingsmen” This is the first release this latest group of Kingsmen have release that reminds me of something old group of Kingsmen might have released. And that’s a good thing! They hit the mark with this one. They lived up to their historic name with this release. I’m happy for them!

“I Believe In You Lord-Lauren Talley” With just a tad of Mexican flavor Laurens name will carry this song onto the charts. If you took the music away it would sound like Lauren’s vocals would sound like an audition for American Idol.

“Just A Little Bit Wiser-DaySpring” Now here is a very practical song. As we go through our everyday lives, we should come out a little bit wiser and stronger. This is a message we don’t hear often, but is delivered very well by DaySpring.

“New Jerusaleum-Sherri Farmer” Sherri. Sherri, Sherri now isn’t this one of the clearest voices in SG Music? If I were a singer in Gospel Music I would be clamoring to record with her. She sings with such ease and clarity she would make anyone sound good.

“A Great Day-Woodsmen” This is their second release with remarkable vocals. It’s also a happy and uplifting type of song. I believe you’ll like it and has a very good chance of charting on stations everywhere.

“A Testimony-George Street” This is more of recitation than a song, but please give it a listen. It’s tells the story of how one man affected the lives of so many, for so long without any knowledge of it. It is a reminder for all of us to keep on keeping on, even when we are seeing little or no results.

“Me And The Devil-Leta Stroud” Her Grand-Daddy was a Preacher in the Carolina Mountains. He Preached hellfire and brimstone. He taught her many things that prepared for future tussles with the devil. The message really struck a chord with me. My Dad passed things down to me, and hopefully, I in turn passed things down to my son.

“The Angels Cried-Shirley Jean Johnson” Shirley wrote and recorded this song in honor of her diseased daughter. She pours her heart out in this release and I am sure it will touch your heart as well.
