Help Save Internet Radio

Hello,

The future of Internet radio is in immediate danger. Royalty rates for webcasters have been drastically increased by a recent ruling and are due to go into effect on July 15 (retroactive to Jan 1, 2006!). Internet radio needs your help! H.R. 2060, The Internet Radio Equality Act was introduced by Representatives Jay Inslee (D-WA) and Donald Manzullo (R-IL) to save the Internet radio industry. Please call your congressperson to ask them to co-sponsor H.R. 2060 by clicking below.

THOSE THAT DON’T STUDY HISTORY ARE DOOMED TO REPEAT IT

In the 1860’s war broke out between the North and the South. In the beginning the North was losing and losing badly. Lincoln’s popularity dropped as thousands of Union Soldiers lost their lives each battle. An outnumbered rag-tag Rebel Army with inferior materials and supplies, not to mention less training, was having their way. It wasn’t until the North adopted a scorched Earth, no mercy policy that the tide of battle turned. In the 1930’s when Hitler come to power most of America was isolationist and England was downsizing its Military choosing to deal with Hitler through appeasement. Prime Minister Neville Chamberlan even made headlines by announcing “Peace In Our Time”. Winston Churchhill virtually stood alone as he stood against Hitler. To make a long story short, it took a scorched Earth policy against Germany to bring it to its knees. Yet we have learned nothing. Korea ended in a ceasefire and remains there. All those that died fighting that war died for nought. The Vietnam War was lost pure and simple, and remains a sorry blemish on American history. It was a huge useless killing field of our youth. Now we are tied up in a war in Iraq. Over 2,000 American lives have been lost, with most coming after we took out the Iraqi Army. We could have pulled out with honor after we took out their Army. We could have pulled out with honor after we discovered that there were no weapons of mass destruction. We could have pulled out with honor after the capture of Saddam. Now there can be no withdrawal with honor. The Democrats say the “surge” will not work and I tend to agree. The Republicans say we are occupying terrorist’s men, materials and cash flow while we fight over there thereby cutting down on the threat over here. Maybe so. However, as a student of history, I believe the best way to fight a war is the principle of total warfare, scorched Earth, if you will. Leave nothing standing, nothing growing, and no combatant alive and free. If all we are doing now is fighting to install a Democratic Government in Iraq, then what the heck are we doing there? That is not what the American people signed on for, it is not what the Iraqi people or the people of that region want, and just how long do you think it would last without continued American support?

ON A PERSONAL NOTE

I want to thank you all for your continued Prayer support and those of you who have been able to help me financially as I have been battling health issues. I have always held a job and have done pretty well over the years. But, acting on advice from my Cardiologist and my M.D., I am now disabled and fighting for disability income. Please continue to Pray for me and my legal team as we wade through the volumes of red tape.

Everyone should be as fortunate as I and know Betty. No, she can’t spell a lick. And most everyone in Pilot Mountain knows that her husband, Tim, is the most henpecked man in the county and that there is no danger of a meal ever being cooked in her home. Yet I am glad to call her “friend”. I met her during a local radio show and was immediately blown away by her singing. She is not just good, but has professional talent. I found her to be quick witted and in possession of a large sense of humor. I have played on her sense of humor numerous times both on and off the air. Betty enjoys a good laugh. The one thing she possesses larger that her sense of humor is her heart. When my health began to hinder the daily operations of GSG Radio, Betty is the one who stepped up and took over. I didn’t have to shut it down, nor did I have to ask her for help. She stepped up, and even with a super busy existing schedule, is doing a supercalfrafleisticepealidocous job. On a couple of occasions She and Tim have even bought Groceries for my wife and I. She is the type person, that if someone were to recognize her for doing something nice for someone, she would play it down. Yep, there is a humble bone in that body too. So I can end this be saying she possesses talent, humor, charity, heart, and humility, it’s just that when God was passing out writing skills Betty got in the wrong line and picked up an extra dose of heart.(and that is a good thing)

Global Southern Gospel Radio and Gospel Harmony Mix are joining together to bring you a fantastic listening experience. GHM has traditionally been playing album cuts and oldies Gospel music featuring lots of quartets, while GSG has always been primarily a Top 40 Southern Gospel station and a friend to the independent artist. Beginning immediately they are going to mesh together. The 7,000 songs currently in the GHM library will be merged with the GSG library and influx of new releases, to create playlists that will keep you Blessed hour after hour. There will be a few changes to our website, and our blog will continue as well as a weekly Top 20 and occasional music reviews. So I believe I can say THE BEST IS YET TO COME.
