Radio Releases Over 4 minutes and Compilations.

Please forgive me for the huge delay in posting.   I need 30 hours in a day to get caught up.

I do not know how many Radio DJ’s would read this blog, but here is a question for you.   Do you generally like to add songs that are 4 minutes or longer to your playlist?

As an artist I have always been told it is not a good idea to release songs 4 minutes and over for radio play.  Personally I do not like to add songs that long to out playlist.   Occasionally I will.

The other thing I was told as an artist.  The first song on a compilation was generally suppose to be the best on the compilation followed by the next best and so on.   Personally I think a lot of times the songs on top has spent the most money.  Hold on before I get clobbered.  I am not talking about every compilation.  I do receive many compilations that do orderly justice for songs.

You may get a compilation with 10 to 15 songs. Going by the general rule, I am expecting to hear the best songs first. A lot of times I have to go down to the last or near the last to hear the best songs. I try to listen to at least a little of every song on a compilation. Lately I really feel like starting at the bottom instead of the top. I also feel you should limit the songs on the compilation to 5 to 8 songs.  Record companies are trying to make the most money now and are adding too many songs on one compilation. Okay DJ’s what are you thoughts on these issues?

Until Next Time

Betty
